This is my entry for "A 'Familiar' affair" contest, being held by *PiccolaRia and =Calyptra through the group Realm of Fantasy. (see [link] ) The contest was to show a fantasy version of yourself with a familiar (animal-shaped spirit helper), and have the picture tell a story.

I chose to paint myself in a medieval/victorian inspired outfit (two eras i'm interested in), with my signature furry purple dragon in a fantasy library (the athenaeum mentioned in the title of my website [link]) so tall you need wings to reach the upper shelves.

It took at least a couple weeks of working several hours a day. It's drawn completely in photoshop (go tablet!) and is probably the most complicated, detailed, and ambitious painting I've done so far (the books took forever; lots of copy and paste and warp tool). As usual, I zoomed way in and did lots of tiny details.
